Your Hosts

JENNY comes from England and has lived in Rome for 29 years. During that time she has taught in many different contexts in the city and is currently an EAL (English as an Additional Language) and Language Policy Co-ordinator at Ambrit Rome International School.

SAL was born and grew up in Rome. He worked for Alitalia Airlines until June 2006 when he retired and focused his efforts on The Tre Stallette. He divides his time in San Polo between the antique shop and working the small plot of land attached to the stables.

Background of Le Tre Stallette

JENNY and SAL first came to San Polo in 1999. The following year they began renovating the properties which are now used as holiday accommodation. The Tre Stallette (three stables) would have originally been used to keep the mule, a pig and hens. They’re set on a terraced hillside, close by the historic centre of San Polo dei Cavalieri, in a garden with olive trees and vines. The buildings themselves have been converted into four rustic style rooms – bedroom, kitchen, storeroom and bathroom - and include a patio, garden, terrace and barbecue. From the garden and terrace we continue to enjoy the spectacular views of the Aniene and Tiber valleys which sweep from the mountains to the Mediterranean.

The main accommodation is in the historic centre, which dates from the 11th century. During the renovation of our own apartment we acquired cellars below the property, which had been used by previous owners to store wine, oil, grains and even a mule on the stairs. This part of the house has been completely restored and provides an apartment with living room/kitchen, bedroom and bathroom and a splendid view across the rolling hills of the Aniene River valley.
